Gotta love Korean skincare...and gotta love beautiful blue packaging like this even more! I recently received this product in my Influenster box to test out and review, so I've posted a corresponding video post along with this post :)

If you're interested in seeing/hearing my thoughts on the Laneige Water Bank Gel Cream, keep on reading after the jump or click on the picture to be taken to my YouTube review.

So, my skin is typically normal or normal to dry, it really depends on the weather and time of year where I live. I can usually just slap on whatever moisturizer I want without worrying about breaking out so I'm always happy to try new products that might work better than a cheapo moisturizer.

I've used this cream for about 5 weeks alone, and as part of my night skincare routine. In the summer months I found that this cream was awesome, super lightweight (because who wants to add more product on your face when it's hot out!?), absorbed readily and easily, and left no residue or scent after it absorbed. I even took this on holidays with me in Mexico where it was 33 degrees out and SUPER humid.

After coming back to Calgary from vacation, the weather had cooled down significantly, and even on the plane ride home, I could feel my skin getting a little bit tighter instead of being soft and supple :( So during the fall months now, I've used this alone and in conjunction with my regular skincare routine (cleanse, tone, exfoliate, moisturize) and I find that my skin is extra thirsty and needs a bit thicker of a moisturizer to help keep my skin smooth and happy. With that said, this cream isn't leaving my skin feeling tight, but it does feel like I need to apply another layer for my skin to feel perfectly hydrated...and with a hefty $42 price tag, I don't think I would repurchase this on my own once I've used it all up.

Now it really depends on what your skin is like, as well as what climate you live in. If you don't have like, 5 months of winter every year (I may be exaggerating and I may not be! You really never know with Calgary weather) then this product will probably be right up your alley!

Let's do a quick breakdown on my overall thoughts:

Pros:
  • GORGEOUS packaging. I could stare at this all day. Can you imagine what your vanity would look like with the full skincare line? *drool*

  • There is a light scent, slightly floral, but this dissipates once the cream is dry.

  • Lightweight, non comedogenic (won't clog pores!), absorbs quickly without leaving a film.

  • Great for summer or in hot/humid climate, just enough moisture.

  • Available at Sephora. Sephora is awesome because you can buy the item to try and if it ends up breaking you out for some reason, or it doesn't work for you, easy return process!

Cons:
  • $42 CDN for a lightweight moisturizer.

  • Doesn't provide enough moisture for my normal/dry skin in the colder weather. Feels like I need 2 or 3 layers for my skin to feel soft and supple.

So overall this is a decent moisturizer in my books. Will I repurchase? Likely not, but I'd be interested to try some of the other products in the Laneige skincare line. If you want to check this product out along with the other ones that Sephora carries, click here.

Have you tried any Laneige products? Is there anything you like/dislike? Leave a comment and let me know!

Happy moisturizing!
